About Task Force Outdoors

Task Force Outdoors is a veteran-focused nonprofit organization based in Converse, Texas, serving the Greater San Antonio veteran community and veterans throughout Texas.

Our mission is simple: bring veterans together through meaningful outdoor experiences that create connection, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose.

We believe some of the strongest connections are built away from everyday distractions—on the water, around a campfire, along a trail, or simply sharing an experience with people who understand where you've been.

That's why we create opportunities for veterans to get outside and experience those moments together.

"I started this nonprofit because I was once the veteran in a deep hole looking for a way out. I wanted to give back to my fellow veterans and create a place where they can find support, connection, and a sense of purpose just as it was going to me. I’ve seen how powerful the outdoors can be in helping people heal, build friendships, and escape the everyday stresses of life. My goal is to provide veterans with opportunities to experience the outdoors, especially through fishing and other outdoor activities, while creating a safe environment where they know they are not alone and we can face the battles together."

"Integrating fellow veterans that have lost that connection/camadrie that we once had as active duty service members plays a huge role. I know when I got out, I lost that sense of pride and fellowship. Reconnecting and meeting new friends that think alike and can relate to what we've been through (combat or non-combat, related) makes a huge difference in our lives after service. I've had my lowest times after I medically retired. The deployments, injuries, and the lack of self satisfaction didn't come until I got out. Non-Profits have played a huge role in my integration back to "civilian life". Obviously my family as well, but thats not the same in some instances."

"I started Tango X-Ray Fishing from a military mindset and a deep love for the water. The name “Tango X-Ray” comes from the phonetic alphabet — representing T and X — a tribute to Texas and the discipline, grit, and brotherhood that shaped the foundation of this brand.

What started as a personal escape quickly became something much bigger. After finding peace and clarity through fishing, I began crafting custom lures built with precision, purpose, and performance in mind. That passion naturally grew into sharing the experience with others — first through kayak charters, then expanding into full boat charters.

Fishing isn’t just about catching fish. It’s about finding peace in the outdoors, building confidence on the water, and creating unforgettable experiences."

Our Mission

Task Force Outdoors exists to create meaningful outdoor experiences for veterans and members of the military community. Our programs provide opportunities to step away from everyday pressures, spend time outdoors, connect with fellow veterans, and rediscover the sense of teamwork and camaraderie that comes from sharing an experience with others.
